If you are also preparing for MAHARASHTRA NEET 2025, then this article is very important for you. Here you will get detailed information about eligibility rules, admission process, documents, fees, rounds and cut-off related to institutional quota.

Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2025: What is institutional quota?

Private medical colleges of Maharashtra are allowed to keep up to 15% of the total seats under institutional quota. These seats are decided by the colleges themselves as to which students to offer them, but this process is done through state counselling. it is completely official and as per the rules.

However, only those students can apply for these seats who have already selected the college as their choice and whose name is in the merit list. This does not mean that anyone can go and get a seat from the college proper application and eligibility is very important.

Which students are eligible for institutional quota?

For institutional quota, the student must be registered for NEET UG counselling in Maharashtra. Also, the college in which the student wants to take admission under institutional quota must be included in the choice list.

Apart from this, the student also has to fulfil the eligibility criteria set by the college. Sometimes colleges give preference only to those students who have already made an enquiry for admission there or who have visited the college. But this entire decision is based on the rules of the college body and DMER.

When are institutional quota seats filled?

Institutional quota process in Maharashtra NEET UG counselling starts separately when some seats remain vacant during Round 3 and especially during the Stray Vacancy Round.

During the Stray Vacancy round, colleges have the right to take the list of students who have opted for the college from the DMER portal and then process the admission on the basis of merit at the college level.

However, this process is completely online and the list comes from the DMER website itself there is no scope for manual interference.

Documents required for institutional quota admission

When you receive the letter for admission from institutional quota, you have to report to the college on the same day or the next day. It is mandatory to carry hard copies of the following documents there: like-

NEET UG 2025 Admit Card and Score Card
Proof of name in DMER merit list
10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
Domicile certificate (if required)
Category certificate (if applicable)
NEET UG counseling registration slip
Aadhar card and photo
Demand draft or online payment slip of fees

What is the fee for institutional quota?

The fee for institutional quota may be slightly higher than the regular management quota. This information is given on the college website, but usually:

MBBS institutional quota fees can range from ₹8 lakh to ₹14 lakh per year and the fee for BDS course ranges from ₹3 lakh to ₹6 lakh per year

Apart from this, some colleges may also ask for a non-refundable security of up to ₹2 lakh at the time of admission. This information is already available in the admission notice.

What is cut-off in institutional quota?

The cut-off in institutional quota directly depends on the local demand of that college and the interest of the students. If a lot of students have filled the choices in a college and the merit is also good, then the cut-off of institutional quota can be very high there.

Conclusion: If you are not able to get admission in any government or open state college despite good scores in Maharashtra NEET 2025, and plan to study in a private college, then institutional quota is a regular and transparent option.
