BDS Admission 2025: The result of NEET UG 2025 exam is now in front of you. There is happiness on the faces of many children, while many are restless. If you too did not get enough marks to get a government seat in MBBS, and your family members are also not allowing you to drop again, or you yourself do not want to lose a year again, then this is the time to choose the right option. And the name of that option is – BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery).
BDS Admission 2025: Is this course right for you?
Every year, thousands of students choose BDS – some as a first choice, some when they don’t get MBBS. But it is not necessary that it is just a “second choice”. The growth in the dental field today is going to be even faster in the times to come.
Nowadays, every second person is cautious about dental health. Not only pain or cavities, but now people want smile design, braces, liners, cleaning, bleaching and improvement in face look.
Branches like cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, and implantology have great career and income prospects.
BDS not only gives you the identity of a doctor but can also make you a professional business owner.
How many marks are required for a BDS seat in NEET 2025?
Now let’s talk about the cutoff. You may ask, I have scored 480 marks, can I get a government BDS? – So let’s understand this question practically:
General Category: If your score is between 470–520, then you can be a strong contender for a government BDS seat. In many states, seats have also been allotted at 490–500 in the past years.
OBC Students: If your marks are between 450 and 500, then you can get access to good colleges in state counseling, especially in states like UP, Bihar, MP, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand.
For SC/ST: You also have opportunities between 390–450. There are many colleges where this range is enough for a government seat.

Complete counselling process by both MCC and State for BDS Admission 2025.
MCC (All India Quota – 15%)-
You have to register by visiting the MCC website (www.mcc.nic.in).
All India Government Colleges, Dental BDS seats, Deemed and Central Universities are included in this.
Domicile is not required in this – that is, you can take college of any state of the country if you get merit.
State-level counselling – 85% seats
Each state has its own medical counselling website, like- upneet.gov.in for UP.
Only students from that state can participate here who have domicile.
The cutoff is slightly lower in this as compared to MCC, so there is a higher chance of getting a better BDS seat through state counselling.
Every counselling process involves registration, choice filling, seat allotment and document verification. Late registration or filling the wrong choice can result in huge losses.
